Where do you turn when life hits you hard?
A brother recently came home to a tragedy. It was a brutal discovery. He already wrestles with alcohol addiction and has, in the past, turned to stiff drinks when times get tough. Instead of heading to the bar this time, he opened his computer and emailed me. He wanted me to pray and recommend a church in his area so he could go there for strength and encouragement. He was able to get through the abrupt crisis.
We rejoice in the power of the Holy Spirit in his life, leading him to ask for help instead of self-destructing. That power is available to you, too.
When life hits you hard, you can find strength in the Lord. You can take your Bible, open it to the Psalms, and begin reading right there. Immediately, you will receive encouragement from God. You’ll be reminded of His love for you and how He is with you no matter what.
Psalm 119:25 (NKJV) “My soul clings to the dust; Revive me according to Your word.”
David knew deep sorrow and overwhelming grief. He turned to God’s word for revival and strength. When we are overwhelmed, it’s easy to forget God’s faithfulness. But it’s in His word that we find life and comfort. God’s promises are like a steady anchor in the storm.
Remember, you’re not alone in your struggles. God understands our pain and our grief. He is our rock, our fortress. When life feels too much, open your Bible and let His words breathe new life into you. Write down your thoughts and prayers and let God’s word soothe those parts of you that nothing else can. His comfort and strength are always there, even in the darkest times. Turn to Him today. He is ready to receive you.
Amen Pastor!
