Often we will hear pastors and even lay leaders say something like this, “I’d love the ministry if it wasn’t for the people.” WHAT?! It gets a cheap laugh but at whose expense?
If you don’t love people then get out of the ministry. Now. Today. No Delay.
Ministry is all about people. Jesus came to save people. He moldeled a servant’s heart toward people.
When we serve, we can get tunnel vision and miss the main thing—the people. When we hold fast to the reminder that Jesus died for every person, we understand the heart of Jesus. The bottom line of serving God is that we care—we care about the Lord, and we care about others.
You’ve read that the greatest commandment is to “love the Lord with your heart, soul and strength.” The next part of that commandment is to “love your neighbor as yourself” (Luke 10:27). If you care about your relationship with Jesus, you are going to be filled with grace, truth, justice and righteousness. When the entire fellowship family of believers is filled with those attributes, nothing will hold back the work that God is ready to do. It all begins with caring.
Ask the Lord to open your eyes to see people from His perspective this week, you will be surprised. Pray for a new refreshing heart of love toward people.
People matter to Jesus. Matter must matter to us!
