706. Lead To Serve Podcast, Season 7, Episode 6

In this episode of Lead to Serve, Pastor Bob Claycamp and I continued our conversation on raising up leaders and building a team. This is one of the most common questions we receive, and for good reason. Many leaders feel the weight of ministry and want to know how to bring others alongside them. But as we discussed, raising up leaders is not about filling positions quickly. It is about seeing people the way God sees them and helping them become all He wants them to be.

We shared how the Apostle Paul saw something in Timothy and simply invited him to come along. Ministry is relational, not transactional. It is not about using people to accomplish our goals. It is about serving them, helping them grow, and giving them opportunities to discover and use their gifts. This requires patience, time, and a genuine love for people.

We talked about some practical tools that help in this process. One way is to give someone a book that has shaped your own life and ask them to read it. Another is to invite them to a prayer meeting or to join you in serving, even in small tasks like setting up or cleaning. Spending time together in these simple ways creates space for conversation and discipleship. It helps reveal where someone’s heart is and gives you a chance to encourage them toward faithfulness.

As leaders, we are not looking to delegate tasks and walk away. True discipleship means we walk with people, model service, allow them to help, and then watch them grow as they step into serving themselves. It is a process that takes commitment, but it is worth it. The goal is not just to find helpers. The goal is to see people grow in their love for Jesus and their desire to serve Him, whether it is in our ministry or wherever God leads them.

Building a team is one of the joys of ministry, even though it can be hard at times. People will come and go, but we can trust that God uses us in their lives for the season we have with them. As we continue to invest in others, God will continue to build His church, and we will get to see the fruit of His faithfulness in the lives of those we serve.
