Moving in the prophetic is very important. It’s an area where God operates in powerful, precise, and life altering ways. It’s also an area that is falsified and faked by many false prophets. You must understand what the Bible teaches about the gift of prophecy!
1 John 4:1–3 (NKJV) “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.”
It’s incredible to think about how our great and gracious heavenly Father forgives us for our sins and gives us gifts, empowering us to serve Him and others well! He wants us to be in the right place at the right time. He wants us to be the most usable for His Kingdom.
Romans 12:6–8 (NKJV) “Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.”
God has given some men and women in the Church the supernatural ability to take His Word and cause it to shine.
2 Peter 1:19–21 (NKJV) “And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.”
The New Covenant spiritual gift of prophecy is defined as ‘declaring the truth.’ The word prophecy means ‘to cause to shine. God uses men and women with this gift to speak forth His Word in precise and direct ways.
