After 100+ years of construction and preparation, it was time for Noah and his family to enter the ark. It would only be in that vast ark that they would find the safety and security of God. Judgment was coming, and deliverance was available in the ark.

Genesis 7:1 (NKJV) “Then the Lord said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation.”

And so they entered by faith.

What a massive step of faith for Noah and his family. Once they set foot in the ark, they separated themselves from the world to God, from danger to safety.

This is a beautiful picture and type of Christian life. The ark represents Jesus. When people place their faith in Jesus, they turn their back on the world and commit to following Christ in the newness of life.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

Today, we also have an ark of safety and security. It is not a physical structure, but rather, it is a Person – Jesus Christ. When we put our faith in him, we are safe from the judgment of God. We are delivered from sin and death. And so we enter into Him by faith. He is our sufficiency.

2 Corinthians 3:5 (NKJV) “Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God,”

Then, after seven days, God shut the door of the ark. He closed all 8 of them inside, safe and secure from the flood waters.

Genesis 7:16 (NKJV) “So those that entered, male and female of all flesh, went in as God had commanded him; and the Lord shut him in.”

How did Noah and his family survive? God shut them in!

How did they stay safe and secure? God shut them in!

The door was so big that only God could shut it, and He did!

We are safe inside Jesus! Just as Noah and his family were safe inside the ark, we, too, are safe inside Savior, Jesus Christ. Remembering our security is in Him, we must fight our doubts and fears!
