2 Chronicles 7:10 (NLT) Then at the end of the celebration, Solomon sent the people home. They were all joyful and glad because the LORD had been so good to David and to Solomon and to his people Israel.
After the worship celebration at the Temple, it was time for the people that had gathered to go home. They came together for this momentous occasion, worshipped and enjoyed the presence of the Lord. Then they went home. That’s a normal pattern among the people of God. We live our lives in the world, working, eating, shopping, playing. Yet there is that pull and tug to worship Jesus in all that we do.
There is that pull and tug to worship Jesus in all that we do. Share on XWe gather frequently to praise and worship God together. Then we go home, our separate ways, into the highways and byways of life to live our lives in God around others.
There are those in every generation that try to re-define and re-engineer the gathering of God’s people together. Some try to minimize it or say it’s outdated or discourage people from gathering together in one place, at the same time, many times a week! Others try to make something else the true focus. Still others desire the gathering to reflect common cultural morays instead of the high and holy worship of the One True God!
Today we may refer to that as “going to church” but really all we’re referring to is a group of people who love God joining together in one place at one time to celebrate and worship Jesus who is worthy of our time and attention. The people of God (believers) coming together to worship and celebrate, along with those that are curious (unbelievers), has been a practice dating back to the time of the garden of Eden as Adam and Eve together worshipped God enjoyed Him in the cool of the garden.
It’s important you make gathering together with the saints a priority in your life, not setting it aside as if it’s no big deal. Don’t listen to the naysayers who declare it’s unnecessary and unneeded. That is not true! Why? Well as in Solomon’s day, you’ll leave joyful and glad because God has been so good! What a need in our lives to reminded of God’s goodness, to have joy stirred up in our hearts as we sing, learn from God’s Word, and serve one another. You’ll be blessed because you came!
It’s important you make gathering together with the saints (going to church) a priority in your life. Share on XThe author to the Hebrews puts it this way, “Think of ways to encourage one another to outbursts of love and good deeds. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of his coming back again is drawing near.” Heb 10:24-25 (NLT)
Take it to heart friend and connect frequently with believers to worship God!
We can be sure of this: We’ll be blessed because we came!
Amen! Spiritual warfare on Sundays (always strong on that day) begins with the enemy putting ideas into our heads as to why we can’t make it to the Lord’s house. Resist, resist, resist. Go! We all need it and we all need each other to encourage us in our worship. Indeed you will be blessed!
(Love and remember that song by the way)
